Bugatti Veyron vs Nissan GT-R Take 2: This Time, Godzilla Beats the 1,001HP Beast

A couple of weeks ago we showed a video (see it here) with a Bugatti Veyron crushing a pair 730HP Nissan GT-R Switzer models in a straight-line duel in Moscow, Russia. Now a second video has appeared on the web with some Russian guys pitting the 1,001HP Veyron model once again against the Nissan GT-R at a drag strip.

We don't know if it's the same cars or not, but this time, the Veyron gets its bulbous buttocks whipped by the GT-R. Don't ask us how Godzilla managed to pull that out - maybe it was hooked up to up to a nitrous bottle or something, maybe the Veyron had some sort of problem, we have no idea- but it did. Watch the second round after the jump.

VIDEO: MINI Diesel gets V8 Roar Thanks to Active Sound Design System

Diesel engines have a lot of advantages over their petrol counterparts, the most significant being their impressive fuel economy and monstrous torque. But there's one thing they don't have and that's the right sound. However, the BMW Group appears to have a solution for the problem - albeit in prototype form for now.

It's called Active Sound Design or ASD for short and it has been applied on two prototype diesel-powered models, a MINI Clubman and a BMW 635d Coupe.

ASD is an electro-acoustic system that makes use of microphones and the vehicle's sound system to change the engine's sound characteristics. The further enhance the acoustic experience, BMW's engineers also used different sound and vibration deadening materials in the engine bay and under the body of the car.

We're Back Online, Google-Bots Defeated

After a three-day hiatus because some Autobot automated system over at Google took the decision to erroneously classify our site as a spam blog, Carscoop is back online.

Now to explain. Google's "robots", "automated systems", or whatever else you'd like to call these "tools", do make mistakes. For the non-believers, here's what Google has to say about the matter:

"The disabling [of a site] is a result of our automated classification system marking it as spam. Because this system is automated there will necessarily be some false positives, though we're continually working on improving our algorithms to avoid these. If your blog is not a spam blog, then it was one of the false positives, and we apologize."

VIDEO: Rocket Car Running on 108 Bottles of Coke and 608 Mentos

We all know what happens when you mix Coca-Cola and Mentos breath mints together- yes, Coke will bubble and shoot up in the air. Now how about if someone harnessed this chemical reaction between the soda and the candy and used the explosive power to propel a car? Well, it won't solve the energy problem but it sure sounds like fun.

The experiment was performed by the same guys who brought us the sky-scraping Mentos/Coke geysers, Fritz Grobe and Stephen Voltz. Their "innovative" three-wheeled vehicle was attached to a complicated PVC pipe crate holding 108 two-liter Coke Zero bottles and 648 Mentos tablets.

Honda CR-Z Guerrilla Marketing gets Extremely Spicy in Paris...

At least in Europe, Honda is following some pretty unconventional methods to promote its new CR-Z hybrid sports coupe.
