1970 Holden Torana GTR-X Concept

Holden Torana GTR-X Concept has been designed for a period of LC Torana series, and was seriously considered for production in early 1970. GTR-X was a wedge-shaped body with a fiberglass tailgate access, prototypes and LC Torana GTR cars were XU-1 mechanical components.

The Holden Torana GTR-X concept looks like a sports car emblematic of the 1970s, as the Ferrari 308 GT4, Lotus Esprit and the Mazda RX-7. It weighed 1043 kg (2299 pounds) and has a top speed of 210 km / h (130 mph). The Torana GTR-X in production would have been the first Holden car factory to be equipped with four disc brakes on all four wheels.

When Holden released a promotional brochure in the GTR-X, he said - "His long, elegant hood is accentuated by a small wedge-shaped grid scan lines of the body in the rear tail light assembly the high Simplicity is the sign ... This is achieved by concealed headlights, a rake of glare ice, parking and behind the turn signals, and access to flush filling of gasoline and door handles. fenders take the front and rear body contour. To identify the vehicle, the GTR-X identification is contained within a band of black and orange fresh, parallel to the rocker panel. "

The Torana GTR-X was largely developed by Holden, design and well as brochures, photographs and promotional films were produced to show how serious they put the car into production, the company was finally unable to justify the high cost of engaging in production given the size of the Australian population in those days.

2011 Holden Volt Review

GM Holden has released the first images of Holden's much anticipated Volt extended electric vehicles, as it will appear on the roads of Australia. The images, which show a version of right-hand drive Holden Volt Sport badges on the front and rear aerodynamics, were released as part of the presentation of Holden International Motor Show Melbourne. This is a place to take the vehicle that was acclaimed for his ability to travel 64 km before electricity with gasoline or producing tailpipe.

GM Holden chairman and managing director Mark Reuss said the company had been overwhelmed by a public interest in Volt Holden since announcing the launch in Australia in 2012. "We believe that V has the potential to change the game in the Australian car," said Reuss. "Since we announced our intention to introduce Holden Volt to Australia, which were overwhelmed by the public interest in the car and the technology that makes it work. There is no doubt that advanced propulsion systems volts are some of the most interesting developments alternative fuel vehicles. believe in Holden Volt will have a major role in our efforts to make the car more environmentally friendly. "

GM estimates that compared to firms gasoline vehicles will save motorists up to 1892 Volts liters of fuel per year. This is based on research from the United States that identifies 75 per cent of commuters travel an average daily distance of less than 40 miles (64 kilometers). When the battery power the Volt is exhausted, a small gasoline engine generates enough electricity to power the vehicle for hundreds of extra kilometres.GM also calculates that charging the vehicle at night using an electrical outlet Standard consume less electricity annually than the average household refrigerator.

Chevrolet Volt is intended for the production of GM's Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly and is scheduled for launch in the U.S. in late 2010. The correct version of the album will be released later.

V - How the technology works

Volt is an extended-range electric vehicle (E-REV). In a significant advance from conventional hybrids, it uses electricity to its wheels at all times and speeds. For trips up to 64 km, Volt is powered only by electricity stored in its battery without using petrol or producing exhaust pipe. When the battery is discharged, a small gasoline engine generates electricity for the vehicle to travel hundreds of miles away. The advanced technology of the vehicle's battery to be paid in less than three hours on a standard 240 V outlet. The charging time is reduced if the battery is completely dead. GM estimates that compared to gasoline vehicles to average 7.8 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers, V will save drivers up to 1,892 liters of fuel per year.

Volt - Details

The design of the Volt production car has evolved from an original concept that was unveiled at the 2007 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. General Motors has created a design for energy-efficient production vehicles, resulting in one of the most aerodynamic cars in the history of the company. Many design elements of the concept car was brought into the production Volt, including the closed front grille, athletic and graphic design background. Inside, the Volt offers space, comfort, convenience and security that customers expect in a sedan with four passengers.

Volt - Battery Information

GM plans to build the first lithium-ion battery production facility to handle a large model car in the United States to produce V battery system. It consists of a lithium-ion cells, which are grouped into modules, along with other key elements of the battery. The plant is located in Michigan, the subject of negotiations with state and local government authorities. Ment will start in early 2009, and production tools were installed in the mid-year and production will begin in 2010.

SPY SHOTS: 2011 Chevrolet / Holden Captiva SUV with Aveo-esque Fascia

Chevrolet's European arm is moving along with the development of the facelifted Captiva that's due to go on sale on the other side of the Atlantic later this year. Judging by these spy photos, if not all, most changes appear to be concentrated on the SUV's redesigned front end that looks heavily influenced from the Aveo RS concept we saw at this year's Detroit show.

Details remain scarce for now, but it is possible that Chevy might also perform some upgrades to the 2011 Captiva's interior and mechanical hardware.

The Folden: New Zealanders Create Half Holden HQ, Half Ford Mustang Mechanical Frankenstein

Is it a Holden? Is it a Ford? Well, according to the folks from the New Zealand music radio station, 'The Rock', neither. They say it's a Folden and it was born from the unholy -or so to speak- union of a Holden HQ and a 1969 Ford Mustang.

The culprits are The Rock's Drive show announcers, Robert Taylor and Jono Pryor, who claim that they created the Folden because they were "fed up with the ongoing battle between their listeners over who is mightier - Ford or Holden."

Their goal was to fuse the rear 3/4s of a 1970's Holden HQ sedan with the front-end of a 1969 Ford Mustang with power being provided by 302 cubic inch V8 Ford engine.
